Yeah, nice review. I'm sure you will make a ton of friends in a "normal" setting by telling people they are wrong and close-minded for not agreeing with you. As far as partying, I bet I could find a party tonight (on a Thursday) with at least a couple girls from the track or softball team who didn't care about marriage and are just looking for guys to bang. The problem isn't Hillsdale, it's you. |
Major: Economics (This Major's Salary over time)
HC is NOT a place for any normal student. In general, students are socially uncouth, afraid of normal activities, and proud of their home-schooling heritage. If you are not a Catholic, expect serious confrontation regarding you beliefs. Girls delude themselves, expecting every relationship to result in marriage. Guys don't party. Homeschoolers are literally everywhere (app 40% of the population on campus). If you are not a radical conservative, you will find very few people to be friends with. Professors are not interested in discussing non-liberal theories/ thought. An air of close mindedness hangs over the campus at all times. Don't deceive yourself with the belief that a Hillsdale education will "take you places." Rarely do you meet someone who is familiar with the college, and usually, these individuals work at organizations like heritage, which, from experience, would rather have students from t30 schools work for them anyways. I'm so glad to be away from Hillsdale College and, just as importantly, the town itself. On the other hand, if you are homeschooled, find yourself consternated by foreign concepts, are Catholic, and have been searching your kindred spirits, attending Hillsdale may be the best decision you ever made. Oh…I forgot to mention arrogance. That's the worst part about it. President Arnn is, hands down, the most conceited person I have ever met. He literally believes he is the next Winston Churchill. Trickle down economics and trickle down arrogance are both very prevalent. Your piers will like know everything. From the benefits of neocolonialism ( someone told me the only way for America to be safe is if all countries become American states. "if they don't want to be American, there will be a non-goverened piece of land for them." ) to the inner workings of the human brain, Hillsdale students, before even attending convocation, have doctorates in all sorts of fields. Try telling someone they're wrong and don't expect to be their friend. In short, like many have expressed, Hillsdale is a very uniques place, and it's not a good fit for many.
