I have made a lot of friends here at Emory who are great people who genuinely care. There is this notion that a lot of people are arrogant or close-minded. They are absorbed in drinking and not really caring. Don't get me wrong, there are great people here who I enjoy being around, but there is too much negativity amongst students. Except for my major, people seem to not really care about what they are doing academically. The just are here to go through the motions. These people seem to see all of the negative rather than saying I'll do better. People here definitely are still wrapped up in their high school ideas that the professors are full of themselves and don't really want to help. The professors couldn't be further from that. Outside of a few professors, they are understanding, helpful and want you to do well. The social scene is pretty bad because so many people leave, they force people who stay on campus to be desperate for something to do.
