Hair Dynamics Education Center

I am a recent graduate of Hair Dynamics and my experience there was a rather mixed one. I looked at both of the other schools in the area and neither could compete with the education at Hair Dynamics. I will start by saying that i definitely got what i paid for in terms of education. They are very up to date and good about teaching the newest trends in cutting, styling, perming, coloring, nail design, and skin care, while they continue to teach the oldie-but-goodies such as shampoo sets, facials, traditional perming etc... If you go through the skin and nail programs you also get certified in Microdermabrasion, Chemical Exfoliation, and Electric Filing. The educators are very passionate and talented for the most part, and are mostly willing to help. All of the equipment is nice and the student salon is very comfortable for being at a school. They have actual pedicure chairs which no other school in the area has and they have great products at fairly good prices but that's pretty much where the good stops. Most of the educators, (And trust me, I met ALL of them, even the new ones!) are very nice, helpful, and there to do their jobs. But then there are the others. The ones that say one thing but then do another, the ones who pick their favorites and make it known, the ones who dont like other students or educators and make that know by being unwilling to help. The one who is having an affair with a student but is still working there even though its a well known fact it is going on. The ones who give expensive salon equipment to special students because they feel they can. The ones who get fired because others dont like them, or worse the ones who get them fired because they dont like them. The ones that ignore the foul language and inappropriate topics in the student salon while clients are present because they would rather avoid the confrontation. You are not allowed to sit around and do nothing because they get angry, but if you have nothing to do and you try to practice the profession your studying by doing a style on your hair, changing your nail polish, or doing your makeup because it is considered a "student service" and your only allowed one a week. And if your are caught you get suspended, even if you've never gotten in trouble before. They are sticklers about dress code but when the flood hit they let one student come to school wearing jeans (which are strictly forbidden), while another who lost EVERYTHING came to school in jeans they sent her home and said dont come back until you have black pants. It didn't even matter that she came when she was going through such devastation, it was what she was wearing. Students who work their asses off dont get recognized very often, and the ones who buy teachers lunches, coffees, and just kiss up in general are always getting student of the month. It is a hard place to feel appreciated in unless you get on their good sides. All in all, if you can deal with heaps of drama, inappropriate conduct, talk, and actions, favoritism, and generally a lot of headaches to get a great education this is the place for you! Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful for my education, but every single student in the school should be counting down to their graduation to feel accomplished, not just to get out of hell revamped and not have nothing to show for it, plus a $20,000 bill.
