York University is an interesting place.Quite BrightHistory/Histories (art history/etc.)
York University is an interesting place. If you're autonomous, you can experience a satisfactory university career or even more if you're lucky (good close group of friends, good professors, good schedule, and perhaps enough money). I have heard bad reviews about profs at York, and there are, but my overall experience in the History program was good. The bad reviews i heard came mostly from business and science/engineering students. It's a large university in the middle of nowhere so if you don't like life on campus then your student life will be dull unless you're an introvert or you enjoy partying with friends. Admin is very inefficient and lazy, so good luck with any inquiries. The biggest problem with York though, is their highly politicized profs and an extremely political school atmosphere. You feel like you live in a time of revolution as you can actually see the militant/mobilizing brainwashing going on by the profs to the students. Good luck for any traditional/right wing thinkers who want a voice. I think that the standard of the university is further lowered by the acceptance of anyone. I worked at york as a student and the admin actually accept almost anyone. Overall though, be strong in what you believe and who cares about what others think. I loved messing around with Marxist thinkers :)

Question
The school itself is very unique.Bright
The school itself is very unique. Some of the profs are very available to help, others seem to hide their contact info making it impossible to reach them. If you plan on coming to York, know that the school/campus (from what I've experienced) is safe. Now... the reasons I'm not fond of this school, is because how I've been treated by the faculty. I was a transfer student from another university, and thought I'd get into the same program as before. I was wrong but thought it wouldn't be that hard to fix. Even though it was still the same subject, it wasn't the same degree as before. And now I have to work very hard to get that title back. I also decided that I wanted to switch majors. So I went to that subject's department only to be told I only have 1 transferable credit (i have 2 years of post-secondary under my belt. There is no way I only have 1 credit). So I argued and argued until someone finally came to help me. I had way more than 1. But I still have to jump through hoops to get into the other major. I won't even be able to apply to switch for another year.. and even at that, I'm not guaranteed to get in. So I could quite possible be wasting my time and money to do all these courses that may not even lead to something. I do not like this school, and had I known half the things I know now, I would've NEVER transferred here.

Question
If you are coming into york and youAverageEconomics
If you are coming into york and you want to change your major you will have a hard time, you need to record the person you are talking to since they all give you different information. The life around york is usually dead, you have to go to downtown which is considered to be far. The only good thing about york is the people, they are amazing and friendly. Furthermore, some professors are amazing and very helpful when you are having trouble, but others are horrible and have a hard time speaking English which makes it hard to understand them.
