I actually attended an Art School in San Francisco, but needed to save some money so I moved back here and decided to take my foundation classes at Ivy Tech. I was surprisingly impressed with the quality of education. All of my teachers are fantastic! They're very helpful and attentive. I have yet to meet an instructor who knows little of what they're teaching.
The assignments are challenging and provide very good structure. I was excited to find out that they are NASAD Accredited so that my courses would transfer. However I still suggest you check with the school you intend to transfer to.
I don't know much about the other programs, but I have heard fellow classmates complain about the same things within the art department. I believe that your school experience is what you make of it. When it comes to Financial Aid and other Ivy Tech staff members, you're gonna find the same issues at any other school.
I've been told by Ivy Tech graduates that the programs at Ivy Tech are much more intense than IU. Having personally attended IU for a year, I really have nothing positive to say about it. You won't get a much better quality of education there than you would at Ivy Tech... at least when it comes to your foundation/general education courses. But once again, it depends on your major.
What I like about Ivy Tech are the small classes. Out of my five classes, I have one that has 17 students. The other four only have 10-12 students. I get a very strong understanding of the material.

I was a working adult going part-time at Ivy Tech Columbus. I wanted an education in the program I chose, because that is what interested me; however, what I found was that Ivy Tech Columbus did not take working adults seriously, i.e. they assumed that we were not going to finish, that we were there because we lacked any "brain power," and that we were not serious about it at all. I wanted to get into another type of job; however, I am doing the same thing that I was when I started the program at Ivy Tech, because apparently a lot of employers do not take their education seriously (where I live).
I transfered my Ivy Tech credits as electives into an Indiana University program that is related to the program I was in at Ivy Tech. Going to Ivy Tech was one of the biggest mistakes of my life. I went there because it cost the least amount of money and not because my "brain was inept" to attend a larger university. Now that I am a senior at I.U. (going part-time), I wish that I would I have started at I.U. Before going to Ivy Tech just because it is less expense, think about the outcome. Is that really what you want? Unless you transfer into a degree program at a major university, no employer (at least where I come from) will take you seriously. Ivy Tech has their only little "click," which is okay I guess, but I really wasn't into being a part of a "click" at all. Think twice before you go (and before you go to IUPI at Columbus -- same thing, different building -- does not seem the same as I.U.)

I attended Indiana University in Bloomington, IN for 2 years before starting at Ivy Tech in Bloomington. I liked IU but for my major Ivy Tech is definitely the better choice (education wise AND financial wise.) There are less extracurricular activities at Ivy Tech but since I am still in Bloomington where the big university is I can still participate in everything I did while attending IU. I wouldn't change my decision to go to Ivy Tech for anything.
