Academic: The majority of the professors are condescending and they get easily frustrated with students but within good reason, most students including myself are apathetic towards our education at Gram. Everyone has classes monday through friday and on average most of the students only go to class 60% of the time. I had five classes and felt i was only learning in two. And most students at gram feel the same way.
Socail Life: the social life is very satisfactory if you have a car. Gram has its own club or party venue that is very near the dorms. Then there is Plush which is 5 minutes away from campus. The yard between classes is always a fun place to be, most of the time you'll see the Frats hanging out there, sometimes there is a stroll off. The soroities at GSU basically dont exsist there is only Deltas and Zetas and yu hardly ever see them. There are dorm parties every weekend, there is a party every weekend sometimes it local sometimes they are an hour away, so a car is a neccsity. Some people say gram is horrible because of its location but the only solution is to know the right people who can tell you where all the fun is at and a car. On average there is a fight every week in Grambling. I seen them happen in the Quad, the Express, the cafe and the dorms.
Admin: Basically fiancial aid sucks big time. They have attitudes about everything. They always give refunds late. Based on my GPA i was supposed to get instate tution but i got outside tution which was an extra 2,000 my mom had to pay out of pocket. Most of the time they give you the run around they will have you talking to five different people just to answer one question! The admin, just overthrew the president so now Gram has a chance to reclaim its spot as a prominent HBCU.
Residental Halls: The RA's dont care about anything you do unless it makes them HAVE to come to your room. They will fine you for anything though. Parties, having too many guest in your room, smoking, drinking and everything else you know you not supposed to do will get you a fine. or really anything you do and get caught with will give you a fine and very rarely will you get caught. The dorms arent safe, basically if somebody who doesn't go to gram wanted to knock on your door they could. They do have officers who patrol the area every day all day. BUT you will hear all the drama that goes on in the Freshman Village 800's. The boys part of the bldg, has a lot of fights, you could smell the weed as you walk down the hallway, the boys dorms always have people getting robbed. And moms be aware that if you send your daughter out there , there is a huge chance when she backs you'll be a grandma, because the boys and girls dorms are less than a minute in walking distance from each other. But the dorms are nice, brand new, and very much liveable. Just like any living space there is water problems, electrical problems and power outages. My overall experience at Grambling had its negatives and positives. I love Gram for all the fun i had, you WILL find out who you are here, no matter if i go to a different school or not I will always be a gramblinite. I would encourage people to come here, but they should know how to conduct themselves and be very aware of the surroundings. I was suspended from Grambling because i got into a physical altercation with my roommate. Oh by the way their judicial system is flip flop, sometimes they'll kick you out for a fight sometimes they wont and it DOES NOT depend on the sitution! a young man got into three physical altercations one with cops before he got suspended, and i got kicked out on my first offense. Grambling is a good school but it like many schools has its negative points.
