Rider University

This is a review of the EDUCATION department.. I was a double major at Rider (History and Education), and I must say that the History Department was phenomenal. Anything bad that I have to say about the Education Department does not in any way reflect how I feel about the History Department, which is fantastic.

As for the Education Department, if I did not have an idea of what kind of teacher I wanted to be before I went to Rider, I would have been out of luck. The School of Education at Rider is 90% useless. The only worthwhile experience is your student teaching.

As a commuter, I found the frat boys and sorority girls to be self-absorbed and completely unfriendly. Everyone else seemed to kept to themselves. Also, as a commuter, I found no after school activities to be accessible. Parking is a NIGHTMARE, and any Rider student will tell you that. Despite the fact that we have/had petitioned or more parking, nobody seemed to listen.For the price of tuition, and the quality of education that you get, go to a state school. If I was just a history major, my opinion would be a little more neutral, but if you are going to college for education, do not go to Rider.

If you like to party on thursday and go home friday for the weekend, then Rider is perfect for you. Generally, Rider is rich kids with nice cars who drive them home every weekend. If you dont have a car, dont bother going to Rider. Rider is located straigt off of Rt. 206. One morning, there was actually a "bum" laying in the doorway to one of the dormatories. Yes, this school is so safe, let me tell you. To go to Rider, it seemed like you have to be loud, and known in order to have friends, otherwise your known as "that person who lives down the hall". To sum it up Rider is boring, has an ugly campus, and unsafe dorms.
