BU is a very large university, comprised of 11 smaller colleges, many of which are gems. Each individual college stands on its own with it's own dean and administration, but the BU philosophy is apparent in each school: serious academics and a classical approach to learning. BU makes no bones about this and candidly rejects social and educational fads. This gives the administration the reputation of being a little right of Attilla the Hun, but there is a real concern for the students here. BU is located in the heart of Boston, so the social life is fantastic, but the trade off is that you lack a traditional campus feel. If you love living in the city and blending into a diverse urban environment this is the place. If you want green quads and pep rallies, go to BC. |
