Caltech has been by far the most challenging experience of my life before. An incredible amount of my time is spent studying, but the payoff (as I'm nearly done with the core) is a truly superior understanding of all the basic sciences (in many cases, the physics classes for instance are nearly equivalent to what a physics MAJOR would take at another school—except faster paced!), and in a couple more years, hopefully a thorough understanding of aerospace engineering. Caltech is ideal preparation for graduate school; less so for entering directly into the work force. Emphasis is definitely upon developing an exceptionally solid background in the main branches of science, and preparing students for careers as scientists or research engineers with plenty of undergraduate research experience. |
