RPI has a great reputation in industry, and its earned. sure, you have to work hard here to graduate, but its worth it; after graduation you'll be worth a lot more than an engineer from any random college. its true that Troy isn't a great city, but downtown albany is only about 15 miles away and there are plenty of cultural things to do, along with a great nightlife. there are many other colleges in the area: russell sage, union, suny albany, and more. the professors, while highly knowledgeable, sometimes aren't the most approachable people in the world, but its a great asset to have one on your good side; they often have strong connections within the industry to help you find a job. there are over 100 clubs and organizations here and all are student-run. the campus is pretty but needs a little maintenance, which is currently underway. it will be looking great in another year or two. at the end of the day, college is what you make of it. if you work hard (more or less) and make some good friends, it can be the greatest experience of your life.
