Defiantly do not attend The College of Lake County, as it is mainly a waist of time. No employer ever hired me because I had attended The CLC. In the Machine trades employers mainly look at what the prospective employee has done in past jobs. It is best to learn on the job by getting your foot in the door even if it means starting at a menial position. I have found that most of the things I was made to study at the CLC were not relevant to the many jobs I have had in the metal working field. I find that I can learn faster on my own or on the job than at an institution like the CLC. Take the money that you would have spent on the CLC so you can buy your own tools and instructional books. If no one will give you a job start working for yourself in your own garage if you have to.
