The University takes advantage of its location in what is offered to the students. Also they spend money like they have unlimited funds and are always improving by building something new or stealing a professor from an Ivy League school with an offer they couldn't refuseNYU is not a typical university and to enjoy it and take advantage of the school you must be willing to accept that you will not have the typical experience others have at their walled universities. Even if you live in university housing it will seem like you are a commuter. You must be willing to seek out and be aggressive in having a social life and in your studies. These are skills you should have to be successful in life anyways so why not learn them now. NYC is not a place for the weak, it is easy to get lost in many "bad" things, or just plain lonely. If you are a strong individual and are willing to take control of your own life then i suggest NYU. If not then don't go.
