Bottom line: If you don't want to work, don't come here. Too many people come here and wind up either dropping out, transferring, or staying here and complaining all the time. It's hard, period. It will likely always be hard. Georgia Tech is not an Ivy League school where you pay a lot of money and get free grades. You pay a little money, and work your butt off for an average grade. But, when four, five, or six years are up, you are more marketable for employment than students at just about any other Technical Institute. Yes, including MIT. After speaking with SEVERAL human resources directors around the nation, a Tech Grad is likely to be hired over anyone else. Tech teaches you discipline, and it teaches you a new way to think. You cannot succeed here by sitting back and just reading. You must participate, and contribute to your work. You work here. And it's worth it, because when you leave, you'll never have to work that hard again (likely because you'll be in management positions). As far as social life, yeah it's only 30% women, and at least 50% of those are ugly as everything. But, Georgia State and Agnes Scott are just around the corner. Tech is right in the middle of Atlanta, so there is NEVER a lack of things to do. Tech offers a great diversity of extracurriculars, and if you want to see something not already there, they fully support your creation of a new organization, and may give you a budget to work with. Overall, Tech is hard, period. But it is worth it. If you're looking for a party school, or a social school, this is not it. But if you're looking for a good education that will provide you with both a challenge and a competitive resume, Tech is the place for you.
