The impression I get is that a few companies paid some money to the CS department and now they don't teach any classes other than the ones that prepare you for sitting in a cubicle churning out code for cable boxes or reading entries from a database and squirting them over the network. In short: something you could learn from a "Teach yourself ____ in 21 days" book and a few websites if you're not a complete moron. If a GT degree is really indicative of anything, it's that you can put up with a load of shafting and bull**** for 4 or 5 years with the slim hope that your life/job won't suck after that time. Hardly the kind of education I came to an institute of higher learning for. |
