I loved Maryland. Every school has a couple of drawbacks—true, you're going to have to walk a bit between your tech and non-tech classes, the meal plan gets old, and tix for b-ball games can be hard to get, but I had a great experience. Lived on campus throughout, did several co-op tours with the local NASA center. The co-op program is a good thing—definitely consider it if it's available in your major. Living on campus was fun, and useful as far as study groups go. Study groups are important—don't burn bridges with your classmates. And it's a big enough school that you can do piles of other things—see cultural events, shows, art exhibits, guest speakers, etc. It's about more than just your classes, though classes are your priority. Lots of activities—I put together two or three newsletters regularly for different (tech and non-tech) organizations. I highly recommend UMCP. But bring good walking shoes when you go there. :) |
