I went to MSU because of Lyman Briggs School (It was Lyman Briggs College back in 1968 when I started.) It combines liberal arts and science education in a small school environment tucked into the amazing variety of social and educational opportunities of a big school. I was a National Merit Scholar and it was heady indeed to live in a dorm where fully half of my housemates were also National Merit Scholars. Lyman Briggs School allows you to have a coordinate major in addition to your Lyman Briggs field of concentration. I got a coordinate degree in Computer Science which I found very advanced for the times. When I later attended graduate school in Computer Science, I found my undergraduate courses at MSU more than prepared me for the graduate courses. |
