As Bennington was before its present President arrived, and fired all the faculty with competence and brilliance… It was then where you could get one of the best academic educations - with a Bohemian flavor - in the country. It is nothing like it now. DO NOT GO TO BENNINGTON AS IT IS NOW - The Bennington that exists now is a pathetic parody of its former excellence. The current President - who has remained there for over 15 years, clear evidence that she is otherwise unemployable - arrived there, declared a fiscal crisis (true enough) and used the opportunity to get rid of every serious faculty member, or anyone who had crossed her - and retained a small group of timeservers and mediocrities. The college, once the source of one of the finest undergradate educations in this country, is now a fundamentally trivial place. Life is short - Do Not Attend This Wretched Place. |
