I think there are certain attributes one should have if they are going to go to this school. The social scene is for the most part made up of drinking till you pass out, making 30 minute drives to Austin so you can drink till you pass out, or being involved in the Greek system somehow. I found that most of the people who attended SWT were from tiny towns or from town I had never heard of or both. It's not a very cultured or refined atmosphere and a lot of the student population is similar. The school doesn't carry a lot of prestige or provide a particularly good education, but it's not a bad school. It's just very blah, whatever, nuetral. Some people love it and that's good for them. If you want to go to a university with a more challenging curriculum, cultured atmosphere, and have relationships with a people you can connect with on a deeper, more intellectual and emotional level, this may not be the place for you. This was just my experience though, and it might turn out the opposite for you. Good luck! |
