For the most part, this offers great bonuses for students. Already as a Junior, I have had research and teaching assistant (that did not at all limit students from interaction with a full professor) experience similar to that usually reserved for graduate students. Professors seek mentorship relationships with students in order to help us discover who we are and where we might want to go. Thus, there are great opportunities everywhere. On the other hand, it is only an undergraduate school. Because of this, it lacks some of the age and worldliness that you might find at a University with a larger and somewhat older student body. Sometimes I feel like I might want a little less guidance and shelter; rather, I might want more real world exposure. In the end, however, I feel like I will be greatly prepared by my little Furman experience when I do in fact reach the real world. |
