If you are from Mass and can get lots of scholoarships then it might be worth it if you like being near your family. Personally I am disgusted, disheartend and disgruntled with UMass. Lots of DISing going on here. Bad food, bad housing, bad parking, bad politics, and bad teachers that dont want to be here. Academically I feel that it is pretty easy but you can be challenged intellectually if you look around for the right classes and prof. (if you can even get into a class). The only saving grace is that if you really look around you can meet some really cool people. But first you have to get past the nerds and the drunken frat/sor people. After two years I am finally transfering. As an out of stater I feel that spending a little more on my education would be worth it than just "settling". Also the "Valley" can get a bit boring with not much to do that isnt repetitive. However, the town of Amherst is quite nice and lots of yummy restaurants can be found in town. Just be prepared to spend lots of money on delivery and snacks as the dining commons is not for people with sensitive stomachs. |
