When I competed for summer internships and when I went into the job market post-graduation, the degree from Tulane definitely opened up a lot of doors - simply because so many people are intrigued by the university and it's students. Not so much that one was actually able to study and graduate while living in new orleans, but because Tulane students are so well-rounded - smart, but at the same time "real" people who know how to interact well and succeed. I actually had prospective employers tell me that they enjoyed interviewing Tulane alumni and I was offered jobs because of my degree from Tulane. At the time of my first job out of college I was offered a better position with a much better salary than friends of mine in the city where I lived and who had graduate degrees. I left that particular career and started a business in a completely different field, but my Tulane connections were a tremendous help in getting my business going and in luring prospective clients.
