The majority of the students are your typical white upper middle class Catholic. And all the girls are skinny and beautiful. But although the students share a similar background, they are not, however, close-minded people. PC students feel like they share a common bond with one another. This contributes to the large and unique sense of community felt on the campus. Most of the students are just genuinely nice people. They care about everyone and are interested in befriending the entire school. As far as academics, it's knowlege that counts. I was a double major in Math and Computer Science. Both are very challenging majors (especially Math - I feel it's difficulty is often underrated). In these courses, it's what you know, not how much work you do that matters. I've noticed my other liberal arts courses were similar, but not as clear cut. The general rule seemed to be if you catch on quick you can get away with doing little work. This led to some people doing loads of work, while others are doing the bare minimum. This academic approach has it's strengths. It's the thinking process I went through, and the resulting knowlege I achieved that have prepared me for my job.Now for student life. The school offers a variety of activities, and everyone seems to be involved one way or another. Also, there are many annual campus events that are a must to attend. It is a big party school. When you graduate they might as well give you a degree in drinking as well. Whether it be getting wasted any or every day of the week, or going to a forty kegger at 10:30 Saturday morning(and yes they all get kicked), there is always a place to get absolutely out of your mind wasted. People here know how to party. I must say that although it has it's flaws, my experience at Providence College was incredible. It was the best four years of my life. |
