Boy where to start. Drexel has its pros and cons, many of both.

First I guess, the negatives. Financial aid here is horrendous. I believe the past 3 years at the Princeton reivew we've averaged 6th or 5th worst in the nation, and it scares me to think others have it worse. It's not so much the cost of tuition or the aid packages, but the department of financial aid itself is apathetic to the point they will lie straight to a student's face. The campus is non-existent. We're in the middle of Philadelphia, and there is no real distinguishing between Drexel own buildings and privately owned ones. Philly isn't the cleanest or nicest city, but if you're looking for one of this community-in-a-bubble kind of Universities this isn't the setting you want. Still worse for us men is the male/female ratio. Especially as a computer science major or engineer, you wouldn't believe girls even attended this university if not for the nice spring term weather when they all seem to come out from hiding. Don't expect to meet many women here, it's just that simple (conversely this bodes well for single girls as they essentially have their pick when it comes to finding a guy on campus).

Ok, now for some positives. First, the co-op. The only reason I went here is for the co-op and its been a great experience. 3 chances to prove to an employer what kind of work I can do, and 1.5 years experience in the field of my major before graduating is priceless. Also, tuition gets a lot cheaper when you move off campus to an apartment nearby (which nearly every upperclassmen does before 3rd year). Going to school for 5 years is as I see it a benefit. Some people may want to be done with school, but it means you have to join the workforce and grow up even more a year sooner. Going to school for 5 years gives you one more year to party and be a kid.

Additionally, the teaching staff is diverse in their quality here. It depends what you choose to do. Their are a lot of teachers at the freshman level that weren't any better than my highschool teachers, however the upper level teachers will truly restore your faith and respect in the term professor. Unfortunately you have to wait about 2 years to take those kinds of classes, but it's a trade-off.
