I am not an alum but a parent of a current student who is enormously thrilled to be at Colgate. Speaking as a parent, I couldn't be more thrilled either since the new president has set high standards for the school and has achieved them in a very short time. What she will accomplish in the next few years should be remarkable and squarely place Colgate in a league of its own as a world class research university on an all-American college campus. Yes, Colgate is out in the middle of nowhere—but it's a nowhere where every student is someone somewhere. It's a tremendous educational opportunity and the next few years will erase the shortcomings of the past, especially the years of the current president's predecessor, during which the students who have negative feelings about Colgate attended the college. As Colgate continues on its path to greatness, it will carry the current and future students to even great heights, guaranteeing almost every graduate with an exceptional collegiate and academic experience while truly preparing them to be the best that they can be in their chosen endeavors. Colgate will soon rank nationally among the Top 25 colleges AND universities in America—and as the reputation of the college and its graduates spreads in succeeding years across the country and in various parts of the world, it will have an international reputation as being among the Top 10 institutions of higher education in America. Colgate offers the complete college experience and does so on an intimate and enthusiastic scale, preparing its students for the demands of living life well and to the fullest. If you do not succeed in those goals, it is not Colgate's fault. The town is getting better and is attracting a more eclectic intelligentsia to the campus as speakers and as faculty. If these comments are still posted, check back in five years to see if what has been said hasn't been proved true. There is an energy and spirit at Colgate that cannot be found at any other college or university. It's a great, great school!
