I think the masters social work program here is a fair program. The direction of the dean at the time was strictly geared towards fund raising, and I believe the current dean has followed that strategy, and the clinical side has suffered as a result. The advising was poor, as I only saw the professor that advised me once, and that was at orientation. He was impossible to get an appt with after that, and you have to be self motivated and able to succeed on your own to find out what classes to take to further your own goals/interests. This program tends to admit people that want to work and the GPA requirements you have to maintain to stay in the program are high, so if you are thinking of coming to party then look elsewhere, but there are many opportunities to party/socialize between assigments/exams. The other students were great. They were helpful and many became good friends. I suggest taking either early classes or late afternoon due to the lack of parking. The professors were mostly good, but they have alot of adjuncts(non tenured)and few were fair to poor, but most were available for extra help or assistance as needed. Overall, I think it was a positive experience that prepared me fairly well for clinical practice, but I think the clinical courses and internships could be improved, and if you are looking for the best clinical program then you should look at other schools. Feel free to email me if you have any other questions.
