While the majority of comments made in reviews here have some truth to them (the fat sorority sluts, the lack of diversity), I have had an amazing time at Binghamton, have met wonderful friends, and have had plenty of awesome experiences…

The worst things about Binghamton are the gen ed. classes, with 400 students and shitty professors (ie Jane Connor), the fact that the adminstration really doesn't care about you, the campus is relatively segregated (both by "types"-ie in the dormitories and by race in some ways), and the amount of Long Island snobs.

The BEST things about Binghamton, aside from it being cheap: There are amazing opportunties in the surrounding area, ESPECIALLY for social science folk…internships in that area abound (as well as teaching, etc), there are SOOOO many different student organizations to get involved in (seriously, I found out about one last week where people listen to music and discuss it high-fidelity style), and some of the departments (mine are sociology and theatre) are seriously top-notch.

The biggest point about Binghamton is that you have to make your own good time. There are great opportuntities, and lots of interesting things to do around town, but they're not easy to find. Talk to students, talk to professors, meet people outside of the university even. I would also seriously recommend the study abroad program…the office of international programs is truly a gem on this campus, and studying abroad through a SUNY is DIRT CHEAP. But remember that your college experience is what you make it, and you can have a crappy time at Yale and a great time here.
