augustana pretends like it is an awardwinning academic environment. i found that it was far less academically challenging than i thought. i must say that the school spends money wisely with very very state of the art science and computuer facilities far better than comparison schools, but doesn't even use these facilities to a fraction of the potential. i can not say that the student or professors are horrible, in fact i'm sure they are some of the best, but for some reason if found a huge air of mediocrity and lack of really caring for anything in general. campus is increadibly homogeneous, feels sedated. high school cliques are alive an well, and rock island is a downhill dirty river city. no campus involvement in the community either. just a sleepy school of sameness.
