The campus has much room for growth and expansion of programs. Besides the fact that UC Davis is located in a very quiet city and a dry rural setting, Davis provides a challenging curriculum. If you want to be in that type of academic and social environment, then Davis might not be a bad option. Definitely visit UC davis and the surrounding city before deciding to attend because students frequently miss home when at Davis. Far too frequently students trek back to their home cities over weekends in an attempt to refresh from the dead uncultured Davis environment. Overall, the culture on the campus is dead and school pride could use improvement as well. Diversity is an issue with students of color, who are too few in numbers on the campus (i.e. African Americans). Typical students are laid back, but do not underestimate the competitiveness in classes, especially science majors. Unfortunately, UC Davis is overshadowed by UC Berkeley and LA, but investigat deep and you will see that it provides a very insightful education potential that is rapidly improving! |
