A few one-liners:If you're bored with Berkeley, you're bored with life.If you can't find what you're looking for here, then it doesn't exist. So you obviously must invent it. (It's a top 3 research institution).Okay, so those were just two.People at Berkeley care about what they do. The one thing you won't find at Berkeley is indifference or apathy. You WILL find what you're looking for here—you just have to go find it. There are endless options. Don't understimate the importance of this.Oh yeah, a few words about statistics. The various demographics really DO interact. Sure, there are cliques, but what's important is that a few thousand people really make the jump, and they do.So the average SAT is like a 1340 and the range is probably a 1260 to a 1460. It's not terribly high, right? But keep in mind that there are 23,000 undergraduates. That's the size of three East Coast private universities. So a quarter of those 23,000 got above a 1460. So between seven or eight thousand… got above a 1460. Keep in mind, then, that even in something like standardized tests, Berkeley spans the gamut. This place gives you independence and lets you contribute to the energy that makes it one of the most important, intimidating and controversial tertiary institutions in the world. Have a blast. But yeah, this isn't UCSB, UCLA or UMiami when it comes to the dating scene. Not that there aren't babes, but that isn't the reason you should come to Berkeley. |
