While at PCC, I stayed out of trouble, earned good grades, and made excellent friends who I have stayed in contact with since I left. I didn't leave because of the rules, or for some silly, immature reason. I left because: 1. The history classes were unchallenging and mostly high-school level. PCC loves to brag about their "superior academics," but frankly, much of that is a lie. Granted, some programs (their "pet" programs) are very challenging, but programs like history are not. Two of my history textbooks were the same (A Beka) books that I had in my first two years of high school!2. PCC is non-accreditted, and, despite what they claim, that makes it very difficult to do something besides become a housewife or a teacher. Believe me, I have done my research thoroughly on this matter. Furthermore, I have several friends who are PCC grads, and they have had a rough time getting good jobs and getting into good master's programs.3. I was tired of all the cheap shots the administration constantly took towards any other Christian college. I won't try to make the claim that PCC hates all other Christian colleges, but a casual observer would certainly get that impression.No, I am not going to continue by whining about all the rules. Yes, many of them were stupid and tedious, but I agreed to live by them, so I really have no right to complain about them. I would like to mention, however, that I was not aware of all the rules when I went down there. PCC neglected to send me theirwhat every student should knowbook before I arrived, so as a result, my first three weeks were three of the hardest in my life. I got through them though, and I have to say that, despite its shortcomings as a college, PCC is not the worst place in the world. It helped me to mature a great deal and there were a few classes that I am very glad I had (such as Life of David with Dr. Brown).My advice to prospective students: Go to the student voice and read the entire student handbook there BEFORE you go to PCC. PCC will not send you a copy of it before you arrive, so it is up to you to prepare yourself. Also, I highly reccommend visiting the college first, but NOT during college days. Do the research before you go, and may God be with you. |
