I am majoring in English at Berry and love the selection of classes (although I would throw out a word of caution for the Shakespeare class - it's a killer!). However, many of the faculty in the English department really play "favorites" - there are a handful of students that sometimes seem to run the place, and it is often hard to get noticed if you are not one of them, regardless of your skill and effort. If you attend Berry planning to minor in secondary education (along with a major in English, math, etcetera), be prepared for a minor that is almost as large as most majors! It is extremely rigorous and the department often (perhaps even usually) holds education minors for more than four years. However, if you push through, you will graduate with excellent training, preparation to teach in any situation, and ESOL certification (great for getting hired). |
