I started school at OSU-OKC because a friend worked in the Financial Aid office. He has since died, but I have stayed at OSU-OKC because of the great faculty. Dr. Doug Baker and Dr. Nancy Shuman-Miller are my all-star favorites. Joe Wilkie in Business Technologies is also great. There are quite a few instructors that don't have a degree in what they are teaching (they all have degrees… don't get me wrong… but some have degrees in one subject and teach something completely "180-opposite"), but all are friendly and helpful. The choices of majors, though, are terrible! The classes are pretty much cut-and-dry (MOSTLY basics) AND they variety of classes to choose from are lousy!!! A few times, I have enrolled for a semester, but during the first week of the semester, one or more of the classes were cancelled.

This is NOT the school to go to if you are fresh out of high school and looking to start your education. This is, however, is a great school to go to if you need skills for a job promotion or want to get in your basics before transferring.

The school boasts a big computer science department with quite a few degree options, but be forewarned that most of the instructors in the computer science department are not as qualified as they should be. I won't name names, but a couple of the instructors have no place teaching what they are teaching.

The social life sucks, mainly because there is no performing arts center on campus, no theatre, NOTHING! There are some clubs and 2-year frats at OSU-OKC, but I would say that there are none that are worth getting involved in… except maybe the HSA (Hispanic Student Assn.), College Democrats, or College Republicans. It has been my experience, though, that most 2-year schools are awful when it comes to clubs and frats since there usually is not on-campus housing (dorms).

OSU-OKC is an awesome place to get your basics before transferring to a four-year institution. Don't expect the world from this place, though, because it will only give you the bare necessities of what you need.

OSU-OKC only offers what I call "technical degrees." The reason I say this is because the do not offer Art, History, Psychology, Business Administration, or anything like that… they just offer degrees that are meant for specific jobs.

The two programs at OSU-OKC worth mentioning at OSU-OKC are the Nursing program and the Police Science program. The Nursing program is definitely the best 2-year program in this part of the U.S., and the Police Science program is rumored to be the best in Oklahoma.

If you want to be a nurse or a cop, definitely come here. If I had to do it over, though, I would have gone to Rose State College. Now that I am here, I plan to finish my 2-year degree and then transfer out to a 4-year school, but in retrospect I can see that I should have looked around more before enrolling.

OSU-OKC used to offer a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, a Bachelor's in Criminal Justice, a Doctorate in Education, and a few other 4-year and Graduate programs, but I believe that they stopped doing that for some reason.

Anyway, I'll end this now. Take a hard look at OSU-OKC before you enroll. If you want a quick associate's degree and you don't care what it is or where you get it, this is the place. Or, if you want to get your basics taken care of at the lowest price in Oklahoma City, this is the place. Don't come here if you want to make friends or get involved in a social scene, though - you'll be terribly disappointed. It is a small school, and that makes things kind of suck… the small class sizes are awesome, though.
