Statistical Analyzer:

As a typical fundamental christian high schooler, I was strongly encouraged (to say the least) to attend a fundamental christian college. I veiwed this "push" as a means to further control my thought patterns in an atmosphere that would be detrimental to both my academic and social life.

After watching the "Catch the Spirit" PCC DVD (the only DVD at 250 Brent Lane that is acceptable)I determined wholeheartedly that Pensacola Christian College was the last academic institution that I would consider attending . I wanted a college with a little more zest(perhaps a jazzy praise team where I could use my guitar skills) , a little more social experience (dating without some combed over freak with a tape measure ensuring that no lustful passions ensue), a little more academic prowess (after all, I thought, why would one attend a joint that wasn't recognized as an accrediated institution.) Simply put, I was a rebellious, selfish, carnal young man looking for my needs over God's plan for my life.

I chose to attend a school with accrediation and planned a lucrative career for myself. After leaving that institution, I attended another that had little standards and danced and sang charismatically to a Christ who had no regard for holiness. To be honest, I enjoyed the dancing and "praising" to the rock sounds for some time. In my sinful flesh, I enjoyed the freedom given to me in regards to my dating standards. The word of God says "the peace of God passes all understanding." The only thing missing in my life was the peace of being in God's will. Chapel time was filled with praise 7/11 choruses (seven words eleven times) rather than Bible study. I can count on one hand the times God's Word was opened, and challenges were given to live a sanctified life for the Lord. Varying theological concepts were gleefully debated, while the fundamentals collected dust. Simply put, I was in a place where the glory had departed. The desires of the school was fleshly rather than spirital.

As a christian camp counselor for 2 summers, I had no grounding in God's Word. I could play a guitar and "Shout to the.. God of Wonders" but I didn't shout the truths of scripture. "Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God." I wasn't being trained to be a biblical counselor,just a fun counselor.
I then knew that I needed to be in a place that had a passion for purity and proclaiming God's Word. After far fectched as it seemed, I knew Pensacola was the place God wanted me. When I informed my fellow counselors that I was going to PCC they chuckled. They raised the same objections that I had raised to my parents rebelliously years before. This time I didn't care. I wanted to be in a place that loved and preached God's Word, and was willing to deal with rules just to be there . I applied three weeks before college started and drove 24 hrs to get there.

As far as academics, PCC is quite challenging. Professors are kind and knowledgeable. Socially, the only ones who have problems are the ones who whine about the rules and turn into undesirable sour grapes. Spiritually, I was in awe the first week at the revival (athough it has taken some time getting use to a hymnal again…but I like it)
No, PCC is not for everyone.If it were there would be more than 4500 students. I would not have recommended it to myself in high school, ( Quite an odd statement , but you get my point) PCC is for a person who is willing to put everything into four years at a God-honoring, christian college and is willing to give up freedom to accomplish that purpose.

The saddest thing to see is a complainer. A graduate who complains about the time they had a PCC or an undergraduate student complaining abut the "legalistic" rules, needs to get a attitude check and realize that God has placed us in situations for service not selfishness. Everything is life isn't fair, so grow up.
If you don't want to be at PCC, don't come. I discovered that personal priorities must be God's priorities or one will be completely miserable. If your reasons for going somewhere else stem from rebellion or selfishness you will fall flat on your face. If God wants you at another institution, but you come to PCC just because it's cheap then that's pretty sad, and you will end up as one of the sour grapes thinking that you are hot stuff due to the many PCC jokes you drum up at the Four Winds (dining area).
I've learned so much about God's Word at PCC (it's preached all the time). I've enjoyed the christian atmosphere ( not perfect, but I haven't seen better.) It's four years at a place that strives to serve the Lord, check it out.
