In the late 90s, the mechanical engineering program totally restructured their curriculum, dumbing it down to be able to graduate more students. As a result, students are not given the background knowledge needed to develop a fundamental understanding of many of the engineering concepts presented, and are instead taught by rote. For example, basic linear algebra and Laplace transforms were neglected, without which control theory is just a bunch of gibberish. The majority of the students could have cared less about actually learning - they just wanted the piece of paper that would let them get a better paying job. |
