As a 1st year student in the General Studies program (CGS), I kind of liked my experience here. It depends on what you choose to do with your life here, for me, since many of the good things that came resulted from my actions. There's a pretty good number of arrogant and shallow people who think they're better than others and have proven so otherwise but I think that's nornal and it does not really bother me too much, although some people would not appreciate it.

The location is kind of a flaw though, although it is situated in a great city, the campus itself is stretched out in a straight line making it frustrating for people to get to a certain class (I currently live in Warren and I have to make a 15-20 minute walk to class).

As a student in the CGS program, I kind of found it as a repeat of some of the same topics from high school and that it offered limits. Yeah, sure we get taunted by the people from Arts & Sciences, Engineering, Management, Communications, Health Sciences, Education, and Hospitality but actually, our workload is (or almost) even with them, and we can actually go to those colleges once we succeed in the 2-year program. We also are allowed to take courses from those colleges so it's just some core program designed for people who haven't made a decision on what to do. I did not even apply to the program in the first place but I chose to do it because I did not want to go to a school where the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. I liked the professors in the CGS program (some of them won prestigous teaching awards), one of them made me laugh while I learned and was a well-respected author on Russian topics. I do not like the guest policies since the security treat visitors as if they were like some threat to the stability of the university. Other universities like Harvard and BC seem to have better policies. The administration should take into consideration the student's views on the policy and be more lenient. The dorms are modest and comfortable as long as you have the right stuff to get through these semesters. We got cable TV in most dorms, so bring a TV with a cable to enjoy your favorite shows. As for social life, you will have a great chance of making some good friends and having some great times. It depends on what you choose to do…
