The average student has a 3.0 gpa compared to 5 years ago when it was an embaressing 1.5, and yes that figure is true. Academic experiences really depend on the choice of professor, thats what makes it or breaks it. I've had the flexibility of hand picking mine based on their ratings and I cannot tell you how great its been. When you're looking at this place from a social point of view, thats where you hit the problem. Its a huge commuter school. What you should that there is no room for commuters looking to make friends, either have your niche or dont be bothered to meet people. One respondent put it best "What I found were pre-established regional high-school cliques, an over-representation of older, returning to college adults, and non-inclusive ethnic circles." There are many older students at this school and I say to them - "people, nova is down the street, get the heck outta here." Oh, and the housing department is useless - they dont help and keep away from those new apartments. They just look good.As I wrap up, people have had their good and bad experiences, Id say more bad than good. There more cons, than pros at GM. I know some classmates who lived on campus but transferred b/c they were appalled at the atmosphere so keep it mind. At this place, you just need luck and Ive had a little, but as a commuter, there are times when I would like to call it a day and leave. |
