Let's be honest - it's not an award winning research university, but it doesn't try to pretend it is. Academically, it's probably comparable with Western, Central, Eastern and Northern (Michigan's Directional Schools). The advantage of SVSU is its class sizes. Outside of 100-level survey classes (average 40-50 students), you will have small class sizes, around 25 or less. People teach at SVSU because they want to teach, not because they have to teach to do research. That's a plus. While the social life is boring, and the campus unsightly, it's a good undergrad institution, even with the prerequesite idiots present at a state college. |
