I am a freshman in the school of business. There are problems here, as there are in most other colleges, and especially in HBCUs. Howard is in a great location and Georgia Avenue is not half as bad as some students claim. Most of the students here are from the suburbs or the high class areas of other cities and get to HU, which is in NW DC, and think they're in the ghetto when they really are not. Don't get me wrong, HU is not some garden like setting or Harvard Square but it's not that dangerous unless you are doing something stupid. The students who do get robbed are the ones flashing a $400 treo 650, wearing $200 shoes, Louis Vuitton bags and walking around like they own the streets. Just try and look normal and not too flashy at night alone…HU has a great school of business and a nice variety of students. The mood here can be competitive and kind of high schoolish at times with popularity and the fashion show…At any given time, one can walk on the yard and see gucci, channel frames, real louis vuitton bags, jordans, and everyone has a northface jacket and a sidekick 2…thats why Im getting rid of mine…If anyone has any questions, feel free to contact me at _email_removed_ |
