I fell in love with Savannah the first time I came to visit. I didn't have to be recruited because I knew instantly that SCAD was where I wanted to be. The city itself provides the perfect classroom for studying architecture. The school is made up of dozens of restored buildings that are scattered throughout the historic district. The faculty and staff are friendly, knowledgeable and approachable. As a student you can walk, bike, take the college transportation or ride a car to classes—although it is recommended that you not bring a car if you live in the historic district. Parking is very limited (get it - ‘historic district’ - they didn’t have cars back then…) College transportation is readily available. They even offer buses to take you to Wal-Mart and the movie theater. There are lots of art galleries, parks and clubs. I grew up in a very large city - so I’m familiar with basic, common sense approaches to safety - such as not walking alone at night. SCAD is a great college and I love being here. |
