Gonzaga is a great school! I feel that I am getting a great education here. My professors know me, I go to class, do my homework, and do well because of those things. I don't feel like there is room to slack off here, although people do. In regard to the social life here, it could definitely be better. Many of the people that come here led very rule-following, family and movie theater fun kind of lives in high school, and go crazy once they get here. Almost everyone drinks, hardly anyone does any drugs (even marijuana), and most of the students are Catholic. However, if you can get over that, the parties are actually really fun, many are themed, and you can definitely go to them without drinking if you choose. There are a lot of activities planned on the weekends here, unfortunately not many people go to these because they are pretty juvenile. Spokane is not the best city to go to college in because it doesn't have much of a scene. However, the campus is really united because of this. The party scene is great and all-inclusive because not everyone goes downtown on the weekends. The students are friendly, and pretty approachable, but many come from pretty well-to-do families and so they can be kind of stuck up sometimes. As many people as there are that are snooty, though, there are more that are down to earth and fun. You'll make friends instantly, because there is no greek scene, the dorms become like fraternities and sororities, people have a lot of pride about where they live and bond with the people they live with. Yes, we put a lot of effort into new students, the people that run these are called ambassadors. And yes, they won't remember you when you come, but that's because they give tours to about 50 people a week, not because they didn't like you or are closed minded. |
