BU was a wonderful place to go to school, set in what is (in my opinion) the best college town in the country. BU has a diverse, motivated and interesting student population (for the most part, of course—but any school of BU's size can only be captured in broad strokes). I met the funniest, smartest, most inspiring people I've ever known at BU, most of whom have gone on to unusually bright and interesting working/personal lives. As BU's backdrop, Boston serves as an incredibly walkable, eclectic, energetic and engaging place to be as a young person. I fell in love with new kinds of music, took in a world-class art scene, and scored an off-hours newsroom job in the nation's 6th largest media market (which was great out-of-the-classroom education to say the least). To be fair, BU's administration was and most likely continues to be antiquated and out-of-step with students and (most) professors alike. It's too bad. BU's Chancellor is one of the least-liked public figures in the state, but thankfully his influence seems to be fading. Unfortunately, though, his impact on alumni giving has been negative and profound.
