I originally came to college with the intent of getting a solid education in my field, graduating, and getting a good job doing something I love. Because of that, I originally chose the tech-school style of RIT. They ask you to declare before you enter, or enter undeclared, and I chose the undeclared science or General Science Exploration. Through the year, I've realized that I need much more room to explore my interests than they provide and I would prefer stronger liberal arts since I think a well rounded education is what I am looking for, so I am transferring out. Campus aesthetics definitely leaves something to be desired, but it really isn't much of a factor once you get settled, and though the social life has a bad reputation it really is what you decide to make of it. Most of the students I know who declared originally are having second thoughts about their majors, and many I know who are older seem to just be "going through the motions" to get a degree in something they don't like. I would urge prospective students to seriously consider their priorities for college and what they think they are interested in, this is as much a time to "discover yourself" as it is to get a degree and hasty decisions regarding schools and majors can often be regretted.

Also - take what is written on this site with a grain of salt, keep in mind that most of the people who write reviews are those who are bitter about some part of their experience. Visit the school, explore your options, and think about what is it you are looking for in college to make your own decision.
