ACT: AcademicSuccess: Again: Attitude: Competitive: Creativity: ExCuricular: FAttitude1: FAttitude2: FAttitude3: FAttitude4: FAttitude5: FAttitude6: FacultyAcc: Friendly: FromArea: FundingUse: Gender: GradYear: Grounds: Intellect: Maint: MindExpect: MindUse: Programs: SAT: SAttitude1: SAttitude2: SAttitude3: SAttitude4: SAttitude5: SAttitude6: SAttitude7: SAttitude8: Safety: Social: Standing: SurroundingCity: TAclasses: USE_THIS_DATA: Usefulwork: Worth: No/invalid Email Address left If you want to do women's and gender studies, art, education, food science, english, comp lit, history, or engineering, rutgers has really great faculty. people in these depts seem happy. i did women's/gender and i loved it. wonderful department with liz grosz, charlotte bunch, mary hawkesworth, jasbir puar, etc. the university itself, however, is atrocious. as regards administrative needs it is nearly impossible to find out where you need to go, or how to get there. classes are spread across four different campuses, connected by busses that run on roads which are constantly under construction. social life is only fine if you don't care about rampant sexual assault and unchecked alcoholism. living on campus is hellish, and off campus is worse. white dudes drive by in shiny modified SUVs, blasting 50 cent all night. most of the extracurricular activities are made up of exclusive kids who are also not smart. intro classes and required courses can easliy have 300 students, and professors who are teaching 4 sections this size. with 1200 students, it is impossible to help anyone, so each student must go to a grad student ta, who also has no time, and often has a pretty indecipherable accent. but like i said, it depends on what your major is. one last thing: nj just cut educational funding by 2 billion dollars. so things are bound to get worse. and instate tuition is going up. i say go somewhere else if you can. |
