That said - I really did like me time at UMASS and found the professors to be excellent - in most classes. I participated in the 5-college system (do that still have that?) and was convinced that UMASS profs were unequivocally better than Amherst, Mount Holyoke and Hampshire. (I had a good prof at Smith!) Originally I was put off by the "party school" reputation - but I quickly realized that there was no way to stay at that school if you were partying all the time. I participated on the women's track and Cross Country teams - which was extremely high caliber at the time. UMASS also gave me the opportunity to try out so many things I might not have had a chance to do at other schools - like sky diving and journalism. All in all - I was happy I went there. |
