If you were one of those kids that hated Phys. Ed. this could well be the place for you. At scad you are surrounded by the kids that got picked last for kickball. The city is scary. Don't be fooled by the pretty pictures they'll show you. The places you'll be living aren;t in the nice downtown area. Whether you stay in the dorms (don;t! It's a ripoff) or in the crack-infested downtown area, there is a guarante that you will either be mugged on your way home from one of the far-far-far-far away halls, or you will have a friend who does. Look out for the giant "palmetto bugs" (cockroaches, cough* cough*) who like to squeeze under the faulty doors which never get fixed by the staff that hates you. The social life is nonexstant, aside from the occaisonal scad-dance, which is always turned into some pro-abstainance bash. As of 2006, no one under 21 is even allowed in the bars, and trust me, there isnt much else to do. The house parties are a mild ok. Fine for some, but if you're comming from a hopping social summer, they're almost always a huge dissapointment. The meal/housing is one of the biggest rip-offs of all time.The dorms are TERRIBLE. DONT stay in them. Save you self a few 1000 and get a house. In the one I lived in, Dyson, there an overpass right next to it, at least 3 homeless guys living under it who stare at you sometimes thru the fence, this really nasty canal right in front of the dorm, which my room mate found half a dead puppy in (ruined my day), and a bunch of staff who will hate you. The racial tension is off the charts and most everyone has some sort of ugly expirence relating to race or religion. The south is not the most tolerant place. I lived there for 9 years and decided to give it a second chance when i moved back for scad. After 3 terms I got sick of it and since then have been living and attending school in London, For about the same price. There are better things to do with your money and education than go here. They let just about anybody in so they can make money. Paula Wallace is the devil incarnate.
