When you consider this college, please keep in mind that it is NOT accredited. This is very important. The school downplays this fact. But it does indeed have an impact on a number of people.

Also consider how much autonomy you want over your life as you live it before your Heavenly Father. Ask yourself if you want to answer to God and your church first or to PCC.

I know the college means well, but I do not find that the students are treated kindly when they make even the smallest of errors in protocol. Rules are important, but what is more important is the purpose of the rules. Do the rules exists to condemn or protect. Sometimes it's hard to determine which purpose motivates the law at PCC.

If this is where God leads you, don't look back. But if you have nagging question deep in the back of your mind, prayerfully examine it. Especially if your parents or pastor advise you NOT to go. Respect your parents and pastor!

Next, the Education Program is great if you are going to use the Abeka materials when you graduate. It does not prepare you to teach in Christian Schools that do not use the Abeka curriculum. There are many different approaches to education which educate the child quite wonderfully and do not offend the heart and mind of God. Not all Christian Schools use Abeka.

Pensacola adheres to what they call "traditional"; so much so that they seem to take pride in ignoring what behaviorists and highly gifted educators have discovered regarding how children learn and how developmental stages effect learning. IMO they think straight lines in the hallway are much more important (appearances) than hands-on (messy), inquisitive (too noisy) "progressive" learning. Just because an approach is new doesn't mean it is "progressive" or offensive to God.

I believe their unwillingness to examine other methods/approaches or to consider incorporating some more modern methods compromises/diminishes the integrity of the program. They would vehemently disagree. So this is only the opinion of one person.

They also say

the philosophy makes the difference.
I agree. But just because the philosophy comes from a Christian, doesn't make it appropriate for every child and every Christian.

Finally, the students are encouraged NOT to question or think for themselves. This squelches intellectual growth. Questioning does not equal rebellion. I'm pretty sure God created us to question, for in questioning we search, and in searching we find answers.

Grace and Peace.
