for the first couple years students tend to want to transfer to a state school because Centre's policies are really political and self-indulgent. After sophomore year, students tend to figure out what they are good at and get closer to the faculty in their departments, so things tend to work out just fine if you stick with it. The classes are really challenging and take a lot of work—more than one would expect, especially compared to the state schools. There's a motto of work hard, play harder here at Centre and it is taken advantage of to the fullest. The hardest thing to deal with is time management and balancing the social scene with the academic scene. The social scene gets a little old after awhile because fraternity parties seem to be the norm/are the norm. But there are ways to escape the redundancy—escaping to louisville [1 1/2 hours away] and lexington [40 minutes away] is usually your best bet. A student's relationship with the college is usually love-hate and the percentages for either side vary given the time of year. |
