I enjoyed many parts of my time at PCC. I made some great friends and met my wife will there. I was very involved student—I was president of my collegian(required fraternity minus the alcohol, parties, and house), a 'straight A' student, floorleader(person in charge of one floor of the dorm), played intramural sports, worked on campus for two years, and graduated with honors. I, however, can not recommend my alma mater, and would strongly discourage my children from attending. The two main problems I had with PCC were the lack of accreditation and the closedmindedness of the campus.

PCC markets itself as a Christian alternative to all of the big Universities and Colleges across the nation, but it lack the accreditation necessary to make its degree as valuable as a degree from an online university. I did not realize the import of accreditation until it was too late for me to transfer. I went to law school, but could not get into the school of my choice because of PCC's lack of accreditation. If you are going in to the ministry, this is not a problem, but if you plan to seek employment at a public school district, go to graduate school, or find a prestigious career, Pensacola is not the place for you. No matter how friendly the teachers, or how difficult the classes, in our country, accreditation is a large part of what gives a degree its worth, and a degree from PCC is not accredited.

Second, the campus if very closeminded. To some this may be a strength, but I was stifled. If a student expressed any point of view contrary to the accepted point of view on any topic, that student could expect discplinary action from the administration. College should be a place to experience diversity of experiences, ideas, and people, but PCC does not allow this. The college allows no independent student newspaper or student led meetings or rallies. I found this lack of free exchange of ideas and cultures discouraging and dissatisfactory.
