Pensacola Christian College can be a good place to get an education if you are not going into any business fields. They have an excellent nursing program, an excellent art and music program, and a good Bible program. However, their business program lacks in many ways.

First, the college is an unaccredited school. This means that one has little or no opportunity to get a job that requires a degree from an accredited college (there are several jobs like that). Now that most companies are hiring through the internet, their is no way to tell them that even though your college is unaccredited, it gave you a good education. Also, there are many times that one has to choose their college from a list. And since the college is unaccredited, it does not show up on the list and the individual cannot apply to that company.

Secondly, The business department is out of touch with the "real" world. All they know of the business world is what they read in magazines and text books. Very few of the business department teachers have spent more than 10 years in the business world.

Thirdly, there is not any networking except with "christian" organizations-no businesses. One of the advantages of going to a secular college or university (especially a well-known one) is the networking. PCC does not bring in any businesses for the students to network with. The only organizations PCC brings in are "Christian" organizations. The old saying of "it's not what you know, it's who you know" is very true. I have been out of college for over a year and a half and I have yet to get an interview at a good company. I may have gotten good classroom education, but it is not helping me get the job. My resume looks just like thousands of other people's resume except mine suggest that I went to a "preaching school". The college has an "office" that deals with employers. However, the person working in it simply answers phones and post any job opportunities that may have come in. They do not actively seek employement opportunities. Most colleges and universities host job fairs that introduce students to many large companies that are looking to hire college graduates. Since PCC does not even provide a list of such companies, the PCC graduate has to find a job without the networking that comes with most colleges.

I suggest that an individual looking for a good business degree go to another college (preferably one that focuses on business). PCC is not a good college to attend if an individual is truly interested in advancing in a business oriented career.
