I left the comment about how UVM is a research institution, the food sucks, I'm a NMS semi-finalist, etc. That review was misleading and was based off less than a month spent at UVM. The school sucks compared to other schools on the same academic level because it's freezing 9 months of the year, and the social scene BLOWS. I've made good friends and we have a good time with our insular, close-knit group, but the parties in general are extremely lame compared to ASU, IN, etc. Not as many hot chicks as KS or ARiz or other comparable state schools. The frat scene is 2% of the student pop (which is not to say that a frat scene is key to a good party scene), a lot of pot-smoking if that's your thing, food gets old real fast and the meal plans are horrible, there are a decent amt of cool ppl but it's like that anywhere. I transferred after a year to a school with a better academic brand and much better social scene and bearable weather and I just feel so much better now. I strongly urge all the lazy kids out there to visit schools instead of just impulsively choosing where to go. |
